Japan beats chest in midlife crisis

 As Japan's population ages, it is increasingly longing for a return to times of great economic and military success, reflected in the heightened tensions over disputed islands. Japan could cooperate with China (and South Korea), but that will not yield the greatest amount of resources or domestic political opportunity - and it will never give Japanese old men honor before their people. - Brett Daniel Shehadey (Jan 30, '13)
